Powering the Economy – A terrific time – yet again – at the AoC Annual Conference

Well, the AoC did it again! Three days of superb key note speakers, informative breakout sessions and focussed debate around the critical role colleges play in the government’s agenda to sustain economic recovery and build productivity.

We had some great conversations with college professionals around the challenges they currently face: from driving up the quality of teaching and learning, performance management and student engagement to the impacts of the post 16 education and training area reviews, preparing for inspections and optimising funding.

For those visitors to our stand, performance monitoring was high on everyone’s agenda. Most commented that although they could get reasonable reporting functionality from each individual information system in their college, they weren’t able to get a complete holistic view of their college performance without a great deal of manual collation by their MIS teams. So it was great to show them that Active Dashboards could take data feeds from most college wide systems including student records, HR and finance systems as well as Excel spreadsheets – and be able to present a clear view of student, staff and college wide performance in easy to interpret dashboard charts and graphs in real time quickly. Being able to drill down from high level stats into individual course, student and staff detail was very popular indeed– and we were thrilled with people’s reactions- and of course absolutely delighted to have arranged a number of follow up meetings for the future.

It was also a great opportunity to catch up with our existing customers, show them the latest version of Active Dashboards with added Google Maps functionality where student data can be mapped onto interactive local and regional maps for greater insights into student demographic, enrolment and retention data. We showed how it could be used to view travel to learn patterns and be overlaid with other geographical information to provide local and regional competitor analysis. If you’re an existing customer and haven’t yet updated to the latest version, click here to contact our Support Team for more information.

We were very excited to showcase our brand new Video Case Study – where David Jones, Principal and CEO of Coleg Cambria explained how Active Dashboards has been applied to their Curriculum Areas, HR and strategic planning – the great benefits they’ve already realised in terms of overall college performance and the part Active Dashboards will play in their continued future success. In his words ‘We’re rated No.1 for further education in Wales and No.2 for Work Based Learning. And Active Dashboards has been an important part of making that work for us’.

Last – but not least – the team at Dynistics would like to say a big Thank You to Rachel, Hugo and the rest of the AoC Team for their support in making sure we too had another great show –as usual!
